Wine Shipping At A Glance
We want you to be in control of shipping, and therefore have put together a short update on how to maintain best shipping practices:
1) Take control of your shipments.
We strongly recommend signing up for UPS My Choice®, FedEx Delivery Manager®, or both. These services put you in control of when and how you want to accept your precious wine shipments! An adult over 21 must be present to accept your wine delivery.
We ship primarily via UPS/FedEx Ground depending on your geographic location. To ensure a successful delivery we recommend creating an account on:
- UPS My Choice® is a free delivery management service that lets you control when and where your packages arrive. You can get real-time alerts, reroute deliveries, or instruct drivers to leave parcels in a specific spot or at a nearby UPS Access Point.
- FedEx Delivery Manager® is a free service that allows you to customize and control residential package deliveries. You can use it to reroute packages, request vacation holds, leave specific delivery instructions for drivers, and get real-time alerts before your items arrive.
2) Understand mis-shipments and damaged shipments.
Mis-shipments:
- An adult over 21 must be present to accept your wine delivery. If you cannot be available to sign for the delivery, we strongly encourage shipping to a convenient UPS or FedEx store. Find a UPS store here or a FedEx store here. (Or we can help find one, just email TastingRoom@Gracianna.Com.)
- We strive to keep shipping fees low for everyone. Once the wine is shipped, carriers charge an additional fee (beginning at $25) to change an address, reroute wine, and for returned wine. Returned shipments are also charged the original shipping price for the return and charged again to be reshipped. That means three shipping charges! We dislike this idea as much as you do, so please confirm your details prior to shipping.
- Packages cannot be expedited once they ship.
Damaged packages:
- Damaged packages will be made right by being re-shipped, free of charge. This often takes a few days; we thank you for your patience.
- FedEx & UPS do not allow reroutes across state lines.
- A return fee equal to the shipping cost will be charged for ALL shipments returned due to recipient unavailability, error, or recall.
3) Understand shipping delays due to weather
Heat holds
- Wine will not ship via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground during summer heat. Summer orders are heat held and shipped in late September or early October. Two weeks before shipping, a notification is sent to ensure someone will be home to sign.
Weather holds
- Ground shipping is only offered seasonally. Warmer or colder temperatures (85 degrees and above or 40 degrees and below) may compromise your wine. To protect the quality of the wine, orders may be held for optimal shipping conditions. The wine will remain in our cellar at safe temperatures until a weather window is found.
If you need your wine during extreme hot or cold weather
- Expedited temperature-controlled shipping is available. Please contact us directly at tastingroom@gracianna.com for pricing and to coordinate delivery. Your wine will be overnighted, it is very important to ensure somebody 21 or older will be available to receive it on the first attempt.
We can hold wine for safe shipping during extreme weather at no additional cost.
Wine Shipping General Information
- Wine may be sold and delivered only to persons who are at least 21 years old. In placing an order, the buyer represents to Gracianna they are at least 21 years old, and the recipient is at least 21 years old. (ID proving age may be required by the delivery service.)
- The shipping carrier will email you the tracking number for your shipment. By law, wine shipments must be signed for by a person over the age of 21 and cannot be shipped to a PO Box. We recommend a daytime business address. Please include the phone number and email address of the recipient.
- If you’re sending wine to someone else, please make sure they know they must sign for their gift.
- Shipping options are available to most of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Sorry, we cannot ship to North Dakota and Utah. International shipments are not available at this time.
- Getting your wine to you is our top priority, but delays outside our control may occur in shipping and handling. If you need your wine to arrive by a specific date, please let us know. We will contact you if upgraded shipping options are necessary.
- Delivery in Sonoma County is free on orders of one case or more.
Tax Information
All wine is sold in California and title passes to you, the buyer, in California; therefore, you will pay the applicable California sales tax of 9.25%. Should you need your order to be shipped, it is your option to authorize Gracianna to act on your behalf to engage a national wine shipping company to deliver your order.
