Two new friends from Eureka, California were in the Tasting Room recently and one of them told us that her father used to say, “the more grateful you are, the more you get.”
What she said has been gnawing at us. Here is what we believe that it means—when you stop and reflect about what you are thankful for, these are the moments when one realizes how fulfilling their life really is.
So, being more grateful means the more you have? This seems like a straight line—if we stop and reflect and inventory everything positive then we self-acknowledge all those elements that we have worked hard for or been granted. It is that act of acknowledgement that represents the gratitude that we hold so dear at Gracianna. After all, we built our winery on making wine for those that have something to be grateful for.
It was something that our great grandmother often spoke about—but when you’re a small child you don’t really understand what it means. So here we are all those years—pausing on Thanksgiving to look at one another and say how much we love each other.
Many folks tell us they use the message on our cork—“What are you grateful for?”—to pass around at their celebration dinner to start a conversation. For us it’s a tradition, and is core to our beliefs about time spent with family, the abundance of good food and wine, and the especially the love associated with this Thanksgiving.

This simple acknowledgement is proven to make you healthier and happier! Benedictine monk David Steindl-Rast preaches: “Happiness does not lead to gratitude. Gratitude leads to happiness.”
So without shame we have a proposal…be grateful, live longer and bring Gracianna along on your wonderful ride of happiness.
